Grymns vs Worms Battle Report
28mm skirmish at its best

We proposed two of the fiercest IDT competitors the honour to play a game involving the latest army list on our website, the Grymns (kindly given by our sponsor Hasslefree Miniatures).

NBFGH : When I realised I could play a game with the Grymns and that it could be put up on our website, I was overwhelmed with joy, and at the same time I wasn’t sure I was worthy of that honour. Had the organisers told me I would face Chrono Hal, I would have refused – he’s such a strategist I couldn’t modestly hope winning.

Chrono Hal : The Grymns... Even a great strategist as I cannot but shake on hearing the name of those wonderful warriors. When the organisers told me I’d play the game against the world-famous NBFGH, I understood it would certainly be the greatest challenge in my career as a wargamer. Fortunately, I was allowed to use one of my favourite armies : Worms.

SET UP

NBFGH : I decided to deploy my troops linearly, as I have learnt from Sun Zu.

Chrono Hal : I decided to deploy my troops linearly, as Napoleon did in Austerlitz.

TURN 1

Chrono Hal gained initiative. Visibly disturbed by his opponent’s audacious deployment, he pondered his first move for long, and finally decided to charge a Grymn with his close combat worm.

Unfortunately, he only rolled 1s, which put him in a difficult situation.

"De l'audace, de l'audace, toujours de l'audace", NBFGH said ; he chose to retaliate.

The result was smashing ! The Grymns (courtesy of our sponsors Hasslefree miniatures) rolled only 6s !!!

That spectacular roll exterminated all the worms at once, giving the Hasslefree miniatures Grymns a well-deserved victory !

CONCLUSION

Chrono Hal : What a blast ! I can't remember having so much fun. Although I think that playing the Hasslefree miniatures Grymns did give NBFGH an edge, I was impressed by the choices he made and can’t deny he deserved to win that game. Now I want revenge ; maybe the Hasslefree miniatures Druursch will suit my gaming style better...

NBFGH : Victory ! What I love in the Dark Tortoise Productions hobby is that even if you are the most talented strategist on earth, the slightest mistake can take you down immediately. Chrono Hal chose to roll 1s ; I was clearsighted enough to roll 6s at the right time. But I know anyone in such circumstances can make the same mistake, so I can’t blame him for it. I’ll be glad to play again against him using Hasslefree miniatures, he's such a kewl opponent !
