Assault on Bunker 13

Colonel X is spearheading the Veh Deh Merdian offensive against the Imperial dominions ; gnome partisans from the North, who managed to fight their way through an imperial ambush, join his troops to strike an imperial outpost. Their vehicles may be a decisive asset in the assault.

Victory conditions : the Mutants must storm into the bunker before the end of turn six - the sooner, the better - and keep it. To do so, they must bring more points into the bunker than the imperial player and preserve that edge till the end of the game. If the mutants capture the bunker on turn 4, they score a major victory ; on turn 5, a solid one, on turn six a minor one.
If the imperial player manages to keep more points in the bunker than the mutants, he will score a major victory ; if he only manages to keep mutants away from it but has no troops inside, that will be a minor victory.

Deployment : 1500pts of mutants led by Colonel X are deployed within 12” of their table edge and 30” away from the bunker, while the convoy (worth 1200pts) comes from the larger table edge opposite the bunker, and is deployed 45" away from it. The Imperial player deploys 2000pts (or 75% of the VDM budget) in or within 6" of the bunker.

Special rules : none.

Colonel X's troops : goatmen, gnome snipers, the usual hydrocephalic zombies going "agnagneu" and other filthy mutants.

The gnome convoy, consisting of 2 armoured cars and a tank.

The imperial shock troops and the local cannon-fodder partisans await.

A rush from BOTH sides on turn one: the imperial troops and their short range weapons try to get an extra shooting phase at the mutants, but some unlucky strikes and the efficiency of the gnome snipers will oblige many of them to seek cover in the woods instead of coming back to the bunker.

Colonel X and his troops are contained, and must confront Sister Marie-Cruchotte's women, while after 3 turns, most of both factions has been wiped out.

The gnomes approach the destroyed bunker, but a full-strength imperial squad is awaiting them.
While Colonel X cleans the middle of the battlefield, the gnomes, supported by the snipers, confront the sisters.

Only three of them survive the shooting, make it to the bunker on turn 5 – and pass their Morale check !
In the end, Imperial troops are annihilated, and only a dozen gnomes and Colonel X remain on the table top.

Veh Deh Merd therefore scores a solid victory – another glorious battle won on a single die roll !
